The Company regularly make two awards and these were presented at Common Hall on 28 January 2021.
The Award of Honour is presented to a person, firm or organisation to recognise special service or merit. This year the award was presented jointly to Past Master Fiona Morrison and the Clerk for their special efforts for the Company in 2020 during the pandemic. As the Master said, “they not only ensured that the Company survived but it actually thrived”.
The Phiatus Award is made annually to an actuary (who need not
be a member of the Company) who has made an impressive contribution to charity. The award is not simply for fundraising but recognises all forms of charitable work and activity. The award this year was given to Mike McLaughlin, an actuary from the USA, for his work with the Trees that Feed Foundation.
