2019 GOLF TOUR
May 12 @ 8:00 am - May 15 @ 5:00 pm
ANNUAL LIVERY GOLF TOUR 2019: SUNDAY 12 MAY – WEDNESDAY 15 MAY IN THE NEW FOREST
I am proposing that we visit the New Forest, an area with lots of non-golfing interest, near to the coast, some excellent courses nearby and reasonable travel distance from the South East.
As discussed, I have moved the dates back a couple of weeks in the hope that we enjoy decent weather and we avoid a clash with the annual Mansion House Banquet. Easter Monday is 22 April and the early May Bank Holiday Monday is 6 May.
The outline plan is:
Sunday 12 May: arrive at Bell Inn Hotel in Lyndhurst, individual dinner arrangements
Monday 13 May: play BROCKENHURST MANOR
Dinner at Bell Inn
Tuesday 14 May: play FERNDOWN
Dinner at Bell Inn
Wednesday 15 May: play BARTON ON SEA
Depart for home after golf
The courses are all interesting with different styles and high reputations. They range from the very traditional heathland course at Ferndown designed by Open champion Harold Hilton, to the quintessential forest course at Brockenhurst designed by the renowned Harry Colt to the seaside Barton On Sea looking over to the Isle of Wight. I encourage you to explore the websites.
Hotel:We will stay at the Bell Inn in Lyndhurst in the middle of the New Forest National Park with drives of around 30 minutes to Ferndown and Barton On Sea, and only 10 minutes to Brockenhurst. For the enthusiastic golfers, there are two modest courses at the hotel so there is scope for a practice round on Sunday.
Finding alternative places for dinner is not easy, or cost effective, in the New Forest for a party of our size so I am proposing dinner each night in the Bell Inn.
- Three rounds of golf
- Three hotel nights, bed and breakfast
- Dinners at the hotel on Monday and Tuesday
- Golf prizes
(Dinner on Sunday evening and lunches/drinks after golf to be covered individually)
Golfer: £615 per person (sharing a room)
Non-golfer: £365 per person (sharing a room)
Single occupant supplement: £125
We should aim to finalise our booking by the end of September to have the best chance of securing the courses and hotel rooms, however, there is usually flexibility to add a few after this.
If you are interested, I would be grateful if you would let me know:
- the number of additional golfers and non-golfers
- the courses you wish to play (cancelled bookings are forfeit)
The aim is to have a group of 20-28. Please forward this invitation to anyone who may be interested.
If you cannot attend because of the dates, please let me know so that I can review the arrangements if several people have a similar issue.
I look forward to another enjoyable tour
