CRICKET AT LORD’S – 2 AUGUST 2018
August 2 @ 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm
The Master-Elect, Nick Salter, has decided to try some different types of social events in his year. The first is a visit to Lord’s cricket ground to watch Middlesex play Sussex in a Twenty20 (or “T20”) evening match.
T20 is a short form of the normally lengthy game of cricket designed to appeal to
people who might otherwise find cricket rather dull, as well as appealing to cricket lovers who will appreciate the flamboyant strokes that don’t often get to be seen in the long form of the game. The two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 overs. A typical T20 game is completed in about three and a half hours, with each innings lasting around 90 minutes and a 45minute break between the innings.
This should be a good match – Sussex Sharks were defeated at Lord’s in a thrilling affair last August and will be led by their new Head Coach Jason Gillespie.
The event will be held in a private box with all food and drink supplied. Arrival is any time from 4.00pm (we have a private entrance to the ground for box ticket holders!), the match will start (weather permitting!) at around 6.00pm, dinner will be held during the break between innings at around 7.30pm and the match is intended to finish at around 9.30pm. We can stay in the box for up to an hour after the end of the match.
The Master-Elect is a member of the MCC and is very proud to be hosting a party at the home of cricket! There may be an opportunity to accompany Nick into the Pavilion during the match.
The cost for the ticket, food and drink is £200 per person. This is subsidised by the Master-Elect and he would be delighted to share with you his passion for cricket in this informal and sociable format that will appeal to all.
