INSTALLATION AND 40th ANNIVERSARY BANQUET – 17 JULY 2019
July 17 @ 6:00 pm - 10:30 pm
INSTALLATION AND 40THANNIVERSARY BANQUET – 17 JULY 2019
As you all know, the Company was formed in 1979 and, on 17 July, we will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first installation dinner.
We are therefore very fortunate in being able to have our banquet at the same Hall, Stationers’ Hall, on the same date in July. This is one of the famous Halls of the City, built in 1673, and positioned between the Old Bailey and St Paul’s.
The drinks reception will start at 6.45pm with dinner at 7.30pm. The menu will have somewhat of a “nod” to the 1979 menu!
Before dinner, at 6.15pm, we will be installing Fiona Morrison as our 41stMaster. The installation ceremony will take place in the church of St Martin Within Ludgate, which is right in front of Stationers’ Hall, but accessed from Ludgate Hill. We’d be grateful if you would be at your seats by 6pm and please note that the ceremony will not have a religious content.
Fiona is well known to us all, having been a Liveryman since 1998. She spent most of her career at LCP, but has now taken a new career direction as a business coach. She was President of the IFoA in 2015/16.
She is a keen sportswoman, but her participation has moved from rowing on water to ski touring. So far Fiona has climbed six of the 4000m peaks in the Alps on her skis – with only another 54 left to climb! She was the team leader of our Inter-Livery skiing team for seven years.
Our principal guest at dinner will be Alderman Sir David Wootton.
He is a lawyer by profession, having been a partner at Allen & Overy, and was the 684thLord Mayor in 2011-12. He is Alderman for the Ward of Langbourn. He is a member of around 10 livery companies and is a Past Master of most of them! David is a trustee of a board that Fiona chairs.
Tickets are £110 each and can be reserved by clicking the booking form here. Please note that, for this special occasion, you are welcome to bring your spouse as your guest and also invite the spouse of any business guest you may bring.
Booking will close on Friday 28 June, or earlier if we reach the Hall’s capacity. A reminder that the dress code will be “black tie”, but gentlemen members of the Company are encouraged to wear a ruby coloured bow tie, recognising our ruby anniversary! You may also wear the tie at all our dinners in our anniversary year.
[If you would like to purchase a ruby coloured bow tie, then a suitable one is available here: https://www.mrsbowtie.com/products/faux-silk-in-ruby-red]
