SHEEP DRIVE OVER LONDON BRIDGE – 29 SEPTEMBER 2019
September 29 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Sheep Drive over London Bridge– 29 September 2019
As part of the Worshipful Company of Actuaries’ 40th year celebration we are currently looking for 40 members of the Company and their spouses/partners to join us at London Bridge on Sunday 29th September for the annual Sheep Drive. The popular event is now in its 7th year and always receives glowing reviews from participants and spectators alike.
Teams of ‘herders’ are required for the drive which involves ‘driving’ sheep, with various levels of success, from your station to the next where you relinquish them to either the next team or to a shepherd. When you’ve completed the sheep drive you’ll receive a personal certificate signed by the Lord Mayor to confirm you’ve exercised your unique right!
Although the sheep drive is a fun event for all involved, its focus is also on raising as much money for charity as possible. Alongside the sheep drive, the Worshipful Company of Woolmen are also running a Livery and Wool Fair; with a variety of stands selling a range of woollen goods, jewellery and luxury accessories plus artisan street food, craft ales, cocktails, ice cream, product-making demonstrations and live entertainment.
Money raised from the event will be split between the Lord Mayor’s Appeal & the Woolmen’s Charitable Trust; so you’ll be raising money for excellent causes whilst participating in an entertaining and unique tradition afforded by your Livery membership.
The annual Sheep Drive and Livery fair is a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxed affair, with plenty of time for the ‘drivers’ to socialise with friends and family, and a great chance to take advantage of the unique opportunity offered through your Livery membership, all whilst raising money for charitable causes.
We will herding sheep in four groups from 3pm, north to south over London Bridge.
Cost of participation
To participate you will need to make a donation of £60 per person to the Company of Actuaries Charitable Trust. So if you’re interested in joining the team, please complete the booking form available here.Note that payment is to CACT’s account, which is a different bank account from the usual one for events.
Further details on the logistics, eating opportunities and final timings for the day will be sent to you nearer the time.
